……..   Our government is broken because We the People have not been exercising our power and control over it — we haven’t been driving the car. We’ve been allowing somebody else to drive it and decide where our government is heading with accelerating speed. Watch this video of Congressman Dennis Kucinich on the House floor as he publicly questions “who are these people” who are secretly setting our government’s agenda and influencing our own representatives to pass laws that harm us:

We the People vs. Central Bankers, Financial Elites, Special Interests

We the People vs. Special Interests, Financial Elites and Central Bankers

This is the game we must play — it all boils down to a battle over who will drive and control government in America. It’s We the People of the United States versus our opponents in this battle: special interests, financial elites and central bankers. And political parties, as well.

In fact, as we head deeper into the 21st Century, We the People are faced with the same decision identified by the last president to challenge and defeat financial elites and central bankers, President Andrew Jackson, in his annual message to Congress in 1833:

…whether the people of the United States are to govern through representatives chosen by their unbiased suffrages or whether the money and power of a great corporation are to be secretly exerted to influence their judgment and control their decisions.

The Federal Reserve

The Federal Reserve

With the current financial crisis, government bailouts of Wall Street that were orchestrated by the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department, and recent proposals to give even more power to the Federal Reserve, it is becoming more apparent that financial elites and central bankers have been secretly driving our government, using it to increase their power and wealth at our expense. And initial research indicates that this is nothing new. It appears central bankers and financial elites have always been our opponents in the battle for control of our government. Consider the following quotes from people who have served in the highest levels of government.

President Thomas Jefferson:

[The] Bank of the United States… is one of the most deadly hostility existing, against the principles and form of our Constitution… An institution like this, penetrating by its branches every part of the Union… I deem no government safe which is under the vassalage of any self-constituted authorities, or any other authority than that of the nation, or its regular functionaries.

President Andrew Jackson in 1833:Andrew Jackson

Standing armies and military chieftains can no longer uphold tyranny against the resistance of public opinion. The mass of the people have more to fear from combinations of the wealthy and professional classes – from an aristocracy which through the influence of riches and talents, insidiously employed, sometimes succeeds in preventing political institutions, however well adjusted, from securing the freedom of the citizen…

Senator Robert LaFollette in 1922:

During the last half century, industry, commerce and finance have taken on monopoly forms… Feeble attempts to prevent the growth of these monopolies or to control them after they were established have been made from time to time, but always in vain. The secret of this failure, in my opinion, lies in the fact that people as a whole have been unable to comprehend what the organized powers of wealth learned long ago. These monopolies and exploiters early discovered that the road to power and profit was through the control of Government. They know that a man may labor all his lifetime with his hands or his brains and have little more at the end of a life of industry and frugality than he had at the beginning. They learned that by the use of the Government to create special privileges, wealth beyond measure can be amassed in a few years. For that purpose they have always been zealous to secure and maintain control of the machinery of Government, control of the Presidency, of the Senate and House… Those who are nominally in control of the political Government dare not make a move without first consulting those who rule the economic world, and have been forced time after time to abandon or reverse their most sacredly pledged policies when the financial masters so directed.

From a former mayor of New York City, John F. Hylan, in 1922:

The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy length over our city, state and nation … At the head of this octopus are the Rockefeller-Standard Oil interests and a small group of powerful banking houses generally referred to as the international bankers [who] virtually run the U.S. government for their own selfish purposes.

President Woodrow Wilson:

Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.

FDRPresident Franklin D. Roosevelt, in a 1933 letter he wrote to President Woodrow Wilson’s top advisor:

The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter:

The real rulers in Washington are invisible, and exercise power from behind the scenes.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his Farewell Address in 1961:

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence – economic, political, even spiritual – is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government… in the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

Watch this video about this speech and Eisenhower’s warnings:

It is evident We the People are at a crossroads, and the situation Thomas Paine described back in 1776 is fitting again today:Thomas Paine

This is our situation… By perseverance and fortitude we have the prospect of a glorious issue; by cowardice and submission, the sad choice of a variety of evils – a ravaged country – a depopulated city – habitations without safety, and slavery without hope…

We’ve chosen the path of perseverance and fortitude. We the People must take the power back from these special interests, financial elites and central bankers. We need to start driving and controlling government ourselves, in order to force a return to accountability and common sense. We’re making our stand here and now. We hope you will too.

This is a time for bold action.

We the People are Sovereigns, not subjects. Let’s start acting like it.

In 1961, President John F. Kennedy called on the American Newspaper Publishers Association to help protect the freedom and independence of every individual. He concluded his speech with:

And so it is to the printing press – to the recorder of man’s deeds, the keeper of his conscience, the courier of his news – that we look for strength and assistance, confident that with your help man will be what he was born to be: free and independent.

Since the mainstream media fails us, We the People must rely on ourselves, and we must look to the Internet, modern communications technologies, new and social media to build the vehicle that will forever change the way we participate in our government.

FREE & INDEPENDENT MEDIA, Inc. is this vehicle. It is a multimedia business that will:

  • Remind everyone of the existence and importance of basic American principles, report objective news of current government actions, and provide opinion-editorial commentary focused on whether or not these actions are consistent with the basic principles.
  • Increase transparency by monitoring the actions of our government; conducting investigations to uncover conflicts of interest, unethical and even criminal behavior; and reporting the facts to individual Americans.
  • Perform extensive research and data analyses to find the root causes of our country’s problems, model to pre-test each of the competing public policy options that are proposed as solutions, and propose legislative reforms based on reason.

At every step of the way, FREE & INDEPENDENT MEDIA, Inc. will engage and involve individual Americans in the process, giving them numerous opportunities to participate effectively and make a difference themselves. A social networking site that is linked to the Blogs will facilitate the building of a grassroots political movement from the ground up.

This movement will be made up of free and independent Americans who choose the path of perseverance and strength, who choose to stand up and fight the central bankers and financial elites for control of our government, who choose to exercise sufficient control to actually govern through our elected representatives.

As Thomas Jefferson said:

Unless the mass retains sufficient control over those entrusted with the powers of their government, these will be perverted to their own oppression.

And:

The influence over government must be shared among all the people. If every individual which composes their mass participates of the ultimate authority, the government will be safe…

And as President Ronald Reagan later said:

We hear much of special interest groups. Well, our concern must be for a special interest group that has been too long neglected. It knows no sectional boundaries or ethnic and racial divisions, and it crosses political party lines. It is made up of men and women who raise our food, patrol our streets, man our mines and factories, teach our children, keep our homes, and heal us when we’re sick – professionals, industrialists, shopkeepers, clerks, cabbies, and truck drivers. They are, in short, “we the people,” this breed called Americans.

This is who we are, and why we are.

FREE & INDEPENDENT MEDIA, Inc. is the vehicle individual Americans will rely on to gain and retain sufficient control over government. And to exercise this control, it will become the de facto Supervisor or Board of Directors over Congress.

It will focus on Congress because it was designed to be the first branch of our government, the linchpin of our constitutional system. Congress is supposed to be preeminent because it is the only branch directly tied to us – We the People – through popular elections and representation. It is Congress, not the president, that originates all laws and government funding, and has oversight power over the other branches of government. Only Congress can withhold funding from and even impeach the president and leaders of the other branches.

We exercise sufficient control over Congress, and then use Congress to exercise sufficient control over the Executive and Judicial Branches.

Our central organizing ideas and principles are those articulated in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and its Bill of Rights, and other writings and correspondences of our Founding Fathers.

Since these ideas and principles are universal and based on reason alone, this is a non-partisan business that fuels and directs a non-partisan movement for all Americans – Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, wealthy, middle class, poor, black, white, brown, red, yellow, etc. We’re all Americans, it’s our country, it’s our government, and it’s up to every one of us to work together to ensure it serves us and protects the rights of each one of us. If we allow just one of us to be oppressed and injured, we allow every one of us to be oppressed and injured.
